Hello, I would like to extend my heart-felt greetfullness to you and yours for producing a wonderful tipi company. My Husband got me a 19.5 Tipi for my birthday in August. I am Lakota, S.Ute and Apache woman and my Husband is a California Indian; Tachi-Yokut. We live on his reservation in the Central Valley Area in California. I have always wanted a Tipi for my family. And going back home in South Dakota (Rosebud) and seeing the Tipis always gave me that warm feeling. We have it up in our yard and have been preparing it for guests and our own use. It is so cozy and warm and it brings to heart the stories and imagination of how my ancestors live and how strong the women where to keep such a home. I am preparing for a huge family reunion out here in California and that means many relatives from various sioux(lakota) reservations will be attending. And having the Tipi will be such and advantage for many things we have planned. So I have enclose a poem that I would like to share and also a few pictures.
Lodge
The sun beats down upon this lodge.
As I sit in its awe-struck wonder,
A beautiful gift from the heart
It soars through out the poles,
So strong in its foundation
The beauty of it flows through and swirls around.
It can secure you and hug you
When it is cold and wet
Cool you off on a hot day.
Sometimes you can hear ancestor voices and feel their smile.
As you sit and talk about the old time-the old ways.
Our home is sacred and should be respected.
So that she embraces you and keep you safe and warm.

My family lives in northern S.C., 14 miles NW of Greenville. Those are the Blue Ridge Mts you see in the photo. We own 15 acres, 8 wooded and 7 cleared where the tipi rests. That photo was taken in Nov of 2004. We purchased the tipi from Reese tipis nearly two years ago; it has been up since. The reason I bought it was because I have a 5 yr old who loves to cook marshmallows and wienies over an open fire, chase fireflies and just be weird like her dad. This Tipi has been awesome! My daughter constantly begs me to sleep in the tipi. It's gotten to the point that I now have an alarm clock so I can sleep out there and get to work during the week rather that enjoying it only on the weekends. Plus, when my wife gets mad at me, I now have somewhere to go!
Just wanted to write and Thank everyone at Reese Tipi!! Our new tipi is absolutely awesome. We have all the room we need for our 2 children and our gear. We also had a friend with 4 kids come and stay with us. Thank you again, we love it. Dean Bradshaw and Family
Excellent Web-site... just a note to thank-you for the effort you're making to keep the traditions alive, and passing them on as well. My adopted Grandmother was an advisor for the movie "Dreamkeeper" her name is Edna New Rider Weber, and I'm sure that she thanks you too for all the hard work and effort to make the movie as captivating as it turned out to be. - - Zane
Just thought I'd send you a shot or two of my tipi... I think I should have adjusted a little more for slope. And you were probably right about a larger size. I found that by the time you figure our your "drip area" in the center there your space around the edges of that gets taken up rather quickly. I may have to consider a larger tipi down the road, using this one as "guest quarters" Looks good for now, however... - - Colin
I would like to thank you and everyone at Reese Tipis for the fine job you did on our Tipi. The quality of the workmanship is superb , the paint went beyond our expectations and your service from day one was top shelf. Thanks Again!!!! -- Doug
I purchased a 19' tipi from Reese tipis last fall. It is a very high quality tipi and I would highly recommend them.
In fact, we went camping last weekend with the cub scouts and enjoyed a terrific thunderstorm and high winds all night. 5 of the nylon tents blew down (one landed up in a tree) but the tipi was fine. The smoke flaps, door, lacing pin holes and everything held up perfectly. No rips, tears or anything. Very high quality of materials and craftsmanship. Go for it! - - John
I was hoping that you would use my photo in his testimonial page. We love our tipi at the lake! - - Jim McEachern
Just thought I'd send you a photo of the flagstone and granite floor in our tipi. Due to weather problems we don't have the bath house completed, so we are not operational yet, but we do have a waiting list of campers. - - David and Desiree Farrar
I ordered a tipi from you last fall and we have really enjoyed it. We use it mostly for camping and it always gets a lot of attention when we set it up. It's amazing how many people have never seen an authentic tipi. We went on a cub scout family camp out last weekend in North Texas and the weather was beautiful Friday and Saturday afternoon. Saturday night a severe thunderstorm blew in and wreaked havoc on the camp. Most of the nylon tents were blown down, one was blown into a tree. We got the tents set back up, or new ones put up by 9 pm. The wind picked back up and was howling all night. 4 more of the tents were flattened and the people ended up spending the night in their cars. Just wanted to let you know, the tipi held up great. Our 3 kids slept through the whole night. I did get up a couple of times to double check the cover stakes and the anchor rope during particularly severe gusts, but they were all snug. Thanks, it's awesome. - - John Myers
Hau friends at Reese Tipis! Here's a picture of my 17.5 Ft. Reese tipi painted by my artist friend Bill Kay. He painted the white buffalo and all of the colors it has during its lifetime. He even painted my cover bag with hoof prints and my name. I love my tipi - just wish I hadn't waited for the last couple of years to buy it. I don't know why, but I have very few mosquitoes that come in to visit. Just the same, I have a mosquito net that I have added to my ozan for summer use since we have so much West Nile here in Colorado. - - R. Morrison
Hi, I bought a 19.6 13 oz Sunforger tipi from you back in late Jan. 2003. It's been great to be able to fully furnish it, and to be able to get dressed for the powwow dancing on the inside and not be cramped for space. My son (and the other boys on the dance team) was amazed by the size of it. It's quite a jump from our old 14-footer. It's been set up as a display several times since the purchase, and i just wanted you to know how pleased i've been with the new tipi. The first time it was up was this past June at the Sycamore Shoals State Park Indian Fest as the only tipi display. It rained very hard that night and i stayed completely dry, even though areas around me flooded, and a "pond" formed outback of the tipi and got within inches of it, all of the tipi bags, parfleeches and other tipi furnishings stayed completely dry inside. The most recent time it was a display, and that we stayed in with 6 boys from the dance team, was the Great Smoky Mountain Council wide Camporee in early October, where over 2,000 Boy Scouts ended up coming through the tipi to see it furnished. Our Federal Senator was even there, came inside the tipi, and was very impressed with it. This tipi was the hit of the "Indian Encampment". I must admit, i'm now considering getting a 16-footer, and it will be a Reese Tipi as well. Thanks again for making a great tipi. -- T. Deane
I received my 13.5 foot tipi several weeks ago and set it up over the weekend. I wanted to thank everyone at Reese Tipis for a fantastic job - I've received numerous complements from neighbors and friends. In particular, I wanted to thank Beau for the beautiful paint job. Thanks so much for suggesting a color change from the original plans - it looks very traditional as you said it would it's just perfect! - - Dan T
I love my tipi even more than I knew I would. I sleep in it every night, even though I have a warm cozy room inside a house. I love it when I tie up the liner and I'm snug inside. It's the best feeling ever. Thank-you so much. The quality, design and esthetics are exceptional. - - Pamela S
I am a wildlife biologist that lives months during the fall and winter in my tipi. While I have owned tipis made by several different sources, the Reese tipis are without doubt the best made and, ultimately, comfortable that I have had experience with. This is why I'm ordering a large one for permanent guest-house in my back yard. -- Ralph
We love our tipi at the lake! -- J. McEachern
Ron and I would like to attempt to thank you at the same level of care that we feel you have put into the making of our tipi. What a pleasure it has been to come in contact with such very fine folks and we so appreciate the pride obviously taken in the talent, honesty, workmanship and service that you have put forth. Upon delivery last night, we laid the tipi out on the lawn in front of our temporary and humble, old green trailer house. As we skimmed through your father's book and all the tipi accessories, we had to tear up a bit. Living in this day and age can be very nerve wracking and it seems difficult to find people who still have some good old fashioned values and enjoy the awesome gift of our God, His creation, His Nature. Thank you! -- Ron and Jymme Manchester
We got a message yesterday from our friend in Montana who is going to paint our tipi for us. He received all the boxes just fine. He wanted to tell us that when he opened them, he couldn't believe the incredible quality of the tipi! He has seen literally hundreds of tipis, and said he has never seen one as well-made as this one. He was sorry that he had just purchased one recently from another company. He thought the materials as well as the workmanship were really top-notch. I can't wait to see it! -- Julie from Washington
Miigwetch (thank you ) for a beautiful tipi and excellent craftsmanship; all the instructions eliminated all the trial and error time! Here is a picture; I slept out in it the first night, endenaway-magen (we are all related), Chi-Noodin ( Robert Palmer)
Hello. Well, it's Summer again, and Kathleen and I are once more hard at work cleaning up the property and enjoying our magnificent Tipi. We left it up all winter, mostly to see how it would stand up to the sometimes severe weather at 10,000 feet, and I am happy to report that it did just fine. I want to compliment you and your staff again on creating such a fine product, and for the valued assistance you and Beau generously gave me during my introduction to my Tipi. We have enjoyed it greatly during the past year, and look forward to many more seasons with it. - - Roger W. Lyngklip

Slept in my tipi the first time over labor day weekend. Beyond cool. Wonderful workmanship. And best of all, its beautiful. My 89-year old mother-in-law slept in it one night. She enjoyed the experience too. -- Jim
Here are some pictures of my beautiful 19 1/2 foot tipi. A special thanks to the
artist, Beau, for the magnificent painting. It is a work of art from the heart.
Our one acre is a fairly nice setting - room for the deer and elk to walk through
the yard - a small creek 15 feet away. The sound is peaceful and soothing to one's
mind. Spending time in my tipi is very enjoyable. Listening to the wind at night
is a unique experience inside the tipi. One night it rained so hard, there was
2-3 inches of water on the ground in some places, but not inside my tipi. The
rain traveled all the way down the inside of the poles to the ground and away
from the tipi. It was a blast just watching that with my 10 year old! Just want
to say thanks to everybody at Reese Tipis for making my tipi. I have already given
away many of the brochures you sent to me. -- Mark
Thank you all so much for the beautiful tipi. I know I have just started my tipi experience, but it has been wonderful so far. It arrived on time in perfect condition. It went up exactly as stated in your book of instructions. My husband was amazed! (He only helped with the lifting of the tripod and the lift pole.) It's the only tipi I know of in the high country between Bridgeport and Mono Lake. It stands in meadow at 9500 ft. This is the first time I've been back to Sacramento since the tipi went up. I can't wait to get back to it. Thank you all, once again. Who would have thought a 56 year old school teacher would fall in love with the tipi experience. -- Linda in California
Thank you so much for your help, especially the directions, I am very thrilled with the result.
Susie and I want to thank all of you for our tipi experience. From start to finish,
you and your company handled every detail with professionalism and grace. It made
for a very enjoyable and positive event. It was special that your parents were
able to share the fire and some of their stories the first night the tipi was
up. Please pass along our thanks and appreciation to Art, Tim, and Beau, and the
rest for their superb workmanship and artistic abilities. We are looking forward
to sharing our tipi with friends and family for many seasons. -- Michael
Hi guys - well yesterday we tackled out tipi. We worked 4 - 5 hours yesterday and I finished it today in about 5 hours more. Of course there is only Me and my husband and we are 59 and 61 so I am not disappointed for the first try. -- Thanks Ethel Cline
I think I sold... or your product sold, two more tipis. One to an oilman from C. Springs, the other to a Dr. in Billings. You should be proud that your product converts your customers into salesmen. My regards to your parents. -- Ralph
Hi,Just wanted to let you know my poles got here on time. The tipi was set-up and the party was fine. Thank you for your speedy service. Happy Trails. -- Patsy Carter
I'm enjoying my tipi very much. At present, it's on a beach at the tip of a secluded point of land stuck out into the St. John River in the province of New Brunswick. The attached photos were taken where I first set it up, at my home, also in New Brunswick. -- Malcolm
We LOVE your Tipi. We bought one last July and have enjoyed it immensely. Some of our friends that have tipis from other makers were highly impressed with the quality of Reese tipis (as were we). Thank you so much! -- Ryan Hooker
Dear RT, Your photos are fabulous. Thought you'd like to see that your brother can still put one up and it lasts! We had an awesome winter, and the tipi was just as pristine as it's ancestors intended. Thank you again. -- Ellen Pearl
We have had our tipi up now all winter at our building site. It has served us well as a weekend camp and now as we get to the never ending process of finishing the house we have moved into the tipi and a fifth wheel trailer on the site. The Tipi is becoming more popular than the trailer due to the much more spacious feeling inside. The whole family sleeps better in there. -- Walter
Here's a few photographs we took of our Reese Tipi recently. -- Lew
Here are the photos I promised. I'm looking forward to receiving the new tipi
and beginning to paint a companion version to this one. -- Ray Baron

(Ray painted this one himself)
Here are two photos of my tipi in the woods of Cape Cod Ma. I used cut down 2x6 boards for the poles. They still needs some trimming but for now they work just fine. Thanks again. -- A. Bourbon
Thought you would like these. Thank you so much. -- Ellen

The following is a letter provided to one of our customers by Mr. Bejar:
Dear Dr. Xxxxxx,
My name is Daniel Bejar; I am a Native American Traditional Services Provider at the Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Prescott, Arizona. I am writing to you in support of Mr. Hxxxx and his efforts to provide a tipi at your location for the children in your residential treatment. Although I cannot speak for all Native Peoples, I can share with you my personal feelings and experience in using tipis in a health care environment.
I am a Mescalero Apache and the Tipi is part of our culture as well as many plains tribes. The Tipi has many different uses, dwelling, ceremony, teaching and social events to name a few. I have used it in all these situations. As a Traditional provider, I have used it for talking circles, teaching and group process. The structure provides participants with a sacred space, close to nature, and away from a cold sterile environment. I have worked with all age groups and seen positive results over the years. The Prescott Medical Center has had a Tipi for over three years and there has been no negative feedback from any of the neighboring tribes. Further more, the Tipi is not indigenous to our area, yet it has been well received.
In this age of technology and distractions the tipi can assist our youth in discovering the wonders of our earth mother and re-discover the beauty within them. Please feel free to contact me if I can be of assistance.
Respectfully,
Daniel Bejar

I now have my computer and VCR set up inside, plus three beds. The wood stove has worked out really well. All the snowfall we've had has sealed up the bottom and this has warmed it up inside considerably. - - Geoff from British Columbia Canada
We are very pleased with the quality and anxious to get it set up. We sure did choose the right company and look forward to many years of "Tipi-ing". Thanks for making such a wonderful product. My husband is even excited and he doesn't get excited about much of anything!! - - Susan from Kentucky

I've been living in my tipi since shortly after I got it. I'm glad I cut the poles to your specifications, they are meaty and give me a feeling of confidence. I love to hear them creek and groan in the wind, almost like a sailing ship. I especially love the warm glow as it gets light each morning and sitting next to the fire and watching the glow fade in the evenings. I helped a lady I met reset her tipi because the fellow who sold it to her did not have a clue. He not only put it up too low which caused a huge smoke hole but he sold her poles that were just barely long enough for her 24' tipi and so thin they tend to bow and slip out of the crotch. Also the seams on her tipi only had one row of stitches so the lower portion inside just stick out, none of the lacing pin holes were reinforced and were already fraying and one was torn. It also had little loops stitched on the bottom for tie-downs and I can see where they have a short future. - - Bill from Oregon
My decision to go with your product was due to your prompt response to my e-mail and your willingness to provide me with the material samples and product information. Thank you once again. - - Linda from Arizona
The tipi went up perfectly,... I followed the directions as exactly as I could and it all went just right the first time and it looks great. Thanks for all your attention throughout the process. - - John from New Mexico
We are very pleased with our tipi, we have been staying in it for 3 months, it is great! - - Sarah from New Hampshire
Well, the tipi is up! and more wonderful than I'd hoped. Thank you. Your design, execution and instructions are impressive. The materials are all first rate, and their finishing's, seams and all, are strong and even. The box did indeed have literally everything needed, down to the little wooden pebble tie downs. - - Anna from California
Thanks for all your help and your quick replies when I had questions. - - Melody from Pennsylvania
Very satisfied customer! OOOODLES-O-PRAISE from other lodge owners. Keep up the good work. Had a chance to look at other lodges this past few months and was very pleased to find that I own one of the very best made in workmanship. - - Curt from Ohio
Photo of Art's tipi. Art's one of my very "tipi smart" local customers - My thanks to him for helping me set up a number of our customers tipis.
Neil from North Carolina
I was pleasantly surprised with how easy it was to put it up. I did it entirely myself, with the exception of putting up the initial tripod -- I had one helper. The detailed instructions in the book you sent were excellent, and fundamental to the ease of my tipi raising. I also feel strongly that you all did a fabulous job on the construction of the tipi. You did some great work, and now I am living very comfortably because of it. Thank you very much! - - Daniel from New York
Great Poles... we are very satisfied. We like the size very much and they are very straight. Melody and Jai from New Mexico
Just a quick note to tell you how much we enjoy our Reese Tipi! It is the hit of the Ranch and the surrounding valley. The workmanship, quality, and design are more impressive each day... particularly as we now look very, very closely at other models - none of which measure up in terms of authenticity or quality. - - Greg, Patty, & Annalise from Texas
I saw some tipis in a display in the Winterlude festival here in Ottawa. I compare what you sold me with what they call authentic Indian tipis and the quality could not be compared. Theirs look quite cheap compared to mine and their setup didn't look to original since they did use some nylon ropes and no pebble ties. So thank again for your great product. - - Roland from Ontario, Canada

I think every home should have one. ...We were so impressed with everything about the tipi.
